"Lost in Waves: A Dream of Reunion and Farewell"

I dreamt I was on either a boardwalk near the beach or at a country club near the pool. And when I got out there I was trying to hide from someone. And then I found Johnny. ( My friend who recently was murdered. Who I loved more than anything.) So I ran over to him and wrapped my arms around him and he held me tightly for a while. And I felt safe and happy. Then he wanted to go swimming but I didn't have a bathing suit. Plus I don't know how to swim. So he pulled out a bathing suit and put up a towel to cover me so I could change. After I changed I reminded him I couldn't swim but he said I'd be okay with him. Then he took my hand and we ran off to the water. I woke up before anything else happened. But when I went back to the dream he was gone and I couldn't find him.

Dreams involving loved ones who have passed, especially under tragic circumstances, can be deeply emotional and meaningful. Your dream featuring your friend Johnny likely reflects your grief and longing for connection after his death.

  1. Setting: The boardwalk or poolside setting symbolizes relaxation and leisure, which may represent a desire for peace and happiness in your life. Being near water can signify emotions; it often relates to the subconscious and feelings of being submerged in your thoughts and feelings.

  2. Hiding: Trying to hide from someone may indicate feelings of vulnerability or the desire to escape from painful emotions or situations. It could reflect how you're processing your grief or perhaps a sense of protection you seek amidst emotional turmoil.

  3. Reunion with Johnny: Encountering Johnny and feeling safe in his embrace suggests a strong emotional bond that you still carry. This recounting of an intimate and loving connection highlights your yearning for his presence and comfort in a time of sadness.

  4. Swimming and Changing: Swimming represents the ability to navigate one’s emotions. Johnny's offer to help you change suggests his role as a protector and a comforting figure, indicating that you may be looking for guidance or support as you face life’s challenges. The mention of not knowing how to swim could symbolize feelings of inadequacy or fear of facing new emotional depths on your own.

  5. Waking up and Returning: The transition to waking up and finding Johnny gone can represent the return to reality after a comforting dream state. This speaks to the difficulty of accepting loss and the bittersweet nature of memories. Your subconscious may be highlighting the anxiety around losing someone so significant and the fear of that absence becoming more pronounced over time.

Overall, this dream is likely a manifestation of your grief and longing for comfort from Johnny. It reflects both the love you shared and the struggle with the ensuing loss. Allowing yourself to feel those emotions and perhaps seeking ways to honor his memory can be beneficial as you navigate your feelings of loss.
